Don’t panic.

Windows 10 will be released at the end of July, free as a download to current users of Windows 7 or 8/8.1. Should you get it? Well, maybe.

ZDNet has an article with some good advice here.

Take a look and let me know what you think – ready to take the Windows 10 plunge?

    • Hi Bruce – Your files should still be in place. Did you look in the Documents folder? Did you try a search for all files that have *.doc in their name? Let me know more info and I will do my best to help.

  1. 1. I cannot create an account, for a message pops up, “This email is part of a reserved domain.” Going to the page as if I had an account ends in zero results. Advise.
    2. I cannot connect with a digital Epson projector as I used to with Windows 7. Most frustrating!

    • Do you mean you cannot create an account when installing or updating to Windows 10?
Do you have another account you can use?
Connect to projector as an external display device? Can you connect to an external monitor as a test?

  2. I have downloaded Kobo desktop for Windows 10, but I get a message that says that I have to go to DESKTOP-4EEBG4N/Marlene, but I can’t seem to find this. How do I find this and how do I do this, so that I can download my books to my library in Kobo?

    • Hi Marlene – the label ‘DESKTOP-4EEBG4N/Marlene’ should refer to your PC, DESKTOP-4EEBG4N, and your user account. Are you logged in as Marlene or as another account? I’m guessing Marlene is the admin account. Maybe you can right-click the installer and choose Run as Admin?

  3. I ‘upgraded’ to Windows 10 last week.

Now my headphone jack doesn’t work.

It isn’t even listed in my devices any more.

    • Have you tried right-click on the top line of the devices list and tell it to Detect Changes? Else, can updated drivers be downloaded from the mfr web site?

since updating to windows 10 I have had difficulty using my chip in my camera to upload new photos. At one time it was working as late as November of 2015 now windows 10 gives error message to connect with device…even though my chip is in….i am sick and tired of this…Help

  5. Switched to windows 10 from windows 7 earlier this week. Things seem to be doing fine except for one thing. I can’t print out emails that I receive. The printer page comes on but there is no “print” button to click as in my windows 7. Whet am I missing or not Doing?
